Reflections on 2015

new year

I hope you’re all enjoying the start of 2016! So far this year has served me well. Before I jump into new posts for this year, I wanted to reflect on the past year.

Being a Data Diva, I think the best way to reflect on the past year is to reflect on my best posts according to the stats ūüėČ

Top 5 Most Popular Blog Posts:

1. Noodlehead Super Tote

Yep, still carrying this bag every weekday to work. It holds¬†everything! Can’t get enough of it. And the best part: it has yet to show any wear-and-tear!¬†And I’ve even washed it several times (delicate cycle, cold water, hang to dry).

Sewing your own bags is totally worth it. I can’t say that after almost¬†a full year of near-daily use any of my manufactured bags in the past would be in such great condition.

2.¬†My initiative to spread joy at a snail’s pace

happy mail

To be honest with you,¬†this project lost its luster faster than I’d hoped (perhaps it was an over-commitment or just typical creative ADD). I still make handmade envelopes like they’re going out of style and I’m still planning to send more snail mail to strangers [because why not!] so keep the snail mail requests coming!

3. Mug Rug Inspiration and Free Gift Tag

mug rug blog post

Mug rugs are one of my new favorite things to make. When I get frustrated with a project or bummed that my latest sewn garments aren’t fitting properly, I whip one of these up! They’re a great, quick project to bring some immediate satisfaction [plus, you can save ’em up throughout the year to alleviate some of the holiday gift-making pressure at the end of the year].

4. DIY Beard Oil & Shaving Cream

Handmade gifts for guys are tough! I always have a very hard time thinking of / finding ideas so this is a good one to rely on [because you could probably get away with gifting this at every holiday if your guy 1) has facial hair and 2) ever shaves it or 3) has a beard to groom].

5. DIY Bridal Tea Party

blog pic

Gosh this party was so much fun to plan! It gave me an excuse to shop for vintage teacups and allowed me the opportunity to plan a menu with Blue Flour Bakery (picking out an array of sweet treats to be baked by my very favorite locally owned bakery especially for our consumption was way more fun than I can explain). Adult tea parties should be the new norm. Who wants to plan one and invite me?! Please!

And for fun – here are my top 9 Instagram posts according to

Left to right Рtop row: Cookies by Cat, sauteed tempeh with a side of what Christmas gifts are all about, My First Quilt (and blogged here)

middle row: My 2nd Out And About Dress (and blogged here), My first Tank Dress (mentioned on the blog here), scarf arm-knitted by my sister

bottom row: that time we met Kid President, that time I started training for another half marathon (and if you want a laugh, check out this confessional post about what it’s really like to train) and my first Date Night Dress (also¬†blogged here).

A big, huge¬†thank you to every single one of you who follow my blog, have ever read a post or just send me a “heart” on Instagram or “thumbs-up” on Facebook¬†now and then. I appreciate all the virtual love and send all the love and light back to you. I wish you all a very happy 2016!

My name is Jordan. I'm a full-time working mom whose coffee cup is always half full (and probably still in the microwave). I've got a weak spot for rescuing old dogs, pretending pizza is a vegetable, negotiating dessert with every meal, propagating more plants than any home needs, dreaming of sewing projects while my husband is talking to me, and loving my tribe too deep.
