What I’m Lovin’ in February

 1. Bravery Bags

Terri of Blue House Joys launched the Bravery Bag back in November – for every duffle bag ordered, another will be made and gifted to a child in foster care (through her local CASA chapter). Earlier this month I received her newsletter with an update that 64 bags had been made and donated! She’s also partnering with another local organization who will fill the bags with age-appropriate care and comfort items. I’m totally smitten with her mission and love any excuse to support handmade businesses (and this is a great one) – check out the Bravery Bag Collection here!

 2. Feel Good Reading

My sister shared a list of her favorite feel-good stories on her blog last month. If you enjoy reading, check out the post!

I listened to the audiobook version of Educated* and I was still digesting the content weeks after finishing listening to it. Riveting.

 3. When Big Guys Love Ugly Dogs

I’m ashamed to admit it but I did not watch the Super Bowl. (In my defense, I have a toddler, I don’t like sports, and I enjoy going to bed as early as possible.)

However, this story about how the winning team’s defensive tackle is celebrating by covering the adoption fee for dogs in his hometown’s animal shelter is so inspiring! (Apparently he’d already been covering a dog’s adoption fee every time the Chiefs won throughout the season.)

 4. Sometimes your passion is not profitable and laughing about it is good

I feel like I’ve had many conversations over the last year or so around what provides your income not always being your life calling and why that’s okay (and perhaps even – *gasp* – good).

So finding this article about how one person turned their passion into their dream job making tiny hats for iguanas was timely – and made me giggle.

 5. Fighting off Cold Season

In case you haven’t heard, children spread germs like it’s their full-time job. My sinus rinse* is still my favorite go-to, but it appears that taking zinc at the onset of a cold could help shorten the duration. Good to know!

 6. Love Letters

This essay about a husband and wife’s daily emails (love letters) to each other is so lovely.

 7. The Wake-Up Call newsletter

Our realtor (and friend!) told me about Katie Couric’s daily email newsletter and I’m so glad she did! I’ve been really enjoying reading through the daily recap – it’s easy to digest and includes topics beyond just politics (which are consuming all other media outlets, right?!).

 8. Inspiring Women

Katherine Johnson passed away earlier this week, and if you don’t know about her, you should! Her calculations helped send astronauts into space. She’s one of the bold women featured in one of mine & Andy’s favorite books to read: Dream Big, Little One*.

 9. Flip Phones

Just when I’m considering whether one would be better than a regular dial phone as a home option, Warren Buffet traded in his flip phone!

Thank you for reading along & being a part of my community. ❤

My name is Jordan. I'm a full-time working mom whose coffee cup is always half full (and probably still in the microwave). I've got a weak spot for rescuing old dogs, pretending pizza is a vegetable, negotiating dessert with every meal, propagating more plants than any home needs, dreaming of sewing projects while my husband is talking to me, and loving my tribe too deep.

  1. This list is amazing! I am about to order a Bravery Bag for little G so he can have his own bag for trips. What an amazing mission! I also signed up for the Katie Couric newsletter. I can’t wait to read them each day! Thank you for sharing!
